Submitting to JOSSAM

All manuscripts submitted to JOSSAM undergo a rigorous, double-blind peer-review process. Authors are advised to carefully format their papers according to the guidelines below before submission to facilitate rapid editorial review.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Title Page (Separate File)

To ensure double-blind peer review, upload the title page as a separate document:

  • Full manuscript title & running head
  • Full author names & institutional affiliations
  • Corresponding author email and telephone number
  • ORCID iDs for all contributing authors
  • Financial disclosures & conflict of interest statements

Blinded Manuscript

Must NOT contain any author names, institutional mentions, or acknowledgments:

  • Full article title
  • Structured Abstract (250 words max)
  • Keywords (3 to 6 MeSH terms)
  • Main Text (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion)
  • References (Vancouver style)
  • Tables and Figure legends

References & Style

JOSSAM adheres to the ICMJE Vancouver citation standard:

  • Number references consecutively in order of text citation
  • Use superscript Arabic numerals in the text (e.g., text.1)
  • Include DOIs for all referenced journal articles
  • Journal titles abbreviated according to Index Medicus

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items:

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Authors who publish with JOSSAM agree to the following terms:

  • Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).
  • Authors are permitted to deposit all versions of their article (submitted, accepted, published) in institutional and thematic repositories with acknowledgment of publication in JOSSAM.
